Why Social Work?
There are many vital reasons why I want to become a social worker. I want to be able to have a chance to have a huge impact upon people’s lives. I want to have the opportunity to help assist people in their vital time of need and assure that people has the best quality of care. I understand the uttermost importance of being a social worker and I would like to help people with the passion that I have to better the community. Being a social worker isn’t just a career, but it is an obligation and a duty to support people that are in need. A social worker is someone who is dedicated to work with families and individuals who are in need of social justice or enhancement in their quality of life.
My life experiences have helped give me potential for being a successful social worker. I have experienced some things that I haven’t let suppress my goals that I have in life. My experiences will enable me to be able to motivate, support, and guide my clients during their time of turmoil. I can relate to people who are in need because my life hasn’t always been the best. There are different life stories that each person have when conflict has been in there life and I want to be a part of the happy ending to people’s oppression in their life by being a social worker.
The WSU School of Social Work's Mission will help me develop into the Social Worker I would like to become. The mission that the School of Social Work has will enable me to be a great social worker. "Wayne State University School of Social Work is to transmit, develop, critically examine, and apply knowledge to advance social work practice and social welfare policy in order to promote social, cultural and economic justice for the betterment of poor, vulnerable, and oppressed individuals, families, groups, communities, organizations, and society". Everything that is stated in the mission will help me become a great advocate.
