Self-Confidence
I learned a plethora of things from the TED Talks.  According to Dr. Joseph, "Self Confidence is the ability or belief to believe in yourself to accomplish any task no matter the odds, adversity, and difficulty".  Repetition and persistence is the easiest way to gain confidence.  Self-talk is important and we need to remind our self about positive things about our self. We all have negative self- talk and there is enough people telling us that we can not achieve something, so why do we want to tell our self that?  Get away from people that will tear you down.  "Nobody will believe in you unless you do".

Power of Seduction
Seduction can be brought to everyday life and everyone has the power to seduce in them. The word seduction has been sexualized and it is hard to imagine it as a powerful skill set.  Seduction is about charm, connection, self-confidence, and appeal.  According to Chen Lizra, Seduction is like a formula: (1) Desire means to know what you want and have the willingness to go after it. (2) Confidence is essential for seduction, without it you can not go after what you want. (3) Body Language communicates to the other person what you want. (4) Arousal is waking up in them the desire of what you want and luring it out. Seduction is not a science, but an art and it comes from the heart. Fearless of failure is what seduction is! Seduction is a valuable life skill. It leads to self-confidence and self confidence leads to success in all areas of your life.

Body Language
Your body language shapes who you are. Animals and humans share the same body language when communicating. For example, when proud and happy, the body language is wide. When the emotion is sad, the body is more closed in. Our bodies change our minds and our minds change our bodies. Our minds change our behavior and our behavior changes our outcome. According to Amy Cuddy, "Our nonverbals govern how we think and feel about ourselves". Do not fake it til' you make it, but fake it til" you become it.

Blog about your experience and what you learned about social workers on the Internet.  For example, did you know that social workers were practicing over the Internet?  Did you know that a lot of social workers had websites?  WOW! Now you are among the professionals with websites!

I learned many things about what are the different topics that social workers have researched and what they can do! There was a wide range of different areas of social work practice that the social workers contributed to.  I plan to work with adolescents, but there are many other areas that I also learned about in the field.  I know there are many job opportunities in the field of social work and I am happy that I learned a plethora of important areas. This was not my first time looking at the profiles of different professors/social workers from the Wayne State University School of Social Work. I did not know that there are social workers that practice over the internet, but it only make sense due to technology being advanced and playing a big role in many occupations. I also did not know that a lot of social workers have websites.

Professional Licensing and Exam Preparation

Things Learned:

1. Being a credentialed social worker makes all the difference.

2. Social workers who want recognition for their professional achievements and who want to unlock new career paths go to NASW for their credentials.

3. When social work was developing as a profession, licensure was not established in all states in the U.S.  All 50 states regulate licensure, many social workers still take advantage of the NASW credentials as a way of professional identification.

4.  As a social worker, you should obtain licensure. It is the law and it identifies your level of education and social work experience for the public.

5. The Association of Social Work Boards is the organization that produces the required licensure examinations for 49 states. California contracts with a different vendor.

The information that I learned will be helpful to know as a social worker because there are requirements needed to be a licensed and credited social worker.  It is the law for a social worker to obtain licensure and it is a process to receive it.  It is good to be aware of how to become a credited social worker and the requirements.

I relearned many things while taking the quizzes based upon chapter 5, 6, 7, and 8. I also learned many other things while taking the quizzes. Many of the questions were a review from the material that I read from the text. While taking the quiz I felt at ease due to it being my second experience taking the quizzes. The first time I took the quizzes I experienced some anxiety and I was happy that I did not experience it this time. The first few quizzes we took from chapter 1, 2, and 4 were true and false questions, but this time we had multiple choice questions for chapters 5, 6, 7, and 8. The only concern I had before taking the test was the fact that it was multiple choice and I did not to know what to expect.  I thought the true and false questions were better than the multiple choice questions. I located my answers by guessing what I was not sure about and using my critical thinking skills. While taking the test I found myself second guessing on my answers a lot, which made me get some of my answers wrong. My goal was to get a 100% on all my quizzes, so for each quiz I took them twice. I received a 70% or better for each quiz then I would study the questions I got wrong and when I took the quiz the second time I would get a 100%.

I watch some of the news channels sometimes, but not on a regular like I should. It is good to watch the news to be aware and knowledgeable of what is occurring. I watched Fox 2 News for a while and learned about many sad events happening in Detroit. It can sometimes be depressing to watch the news channel because some of the current events are tragedies. I was very saddened to learn about the murder of Tiane Brown, a Wayne State University law student. She was missing for a couple days and the police found her body in her vehicle near the Packard Plant located on the eastside of Detroit. She was 33 years old with three young daughters. She had a master's in biomedical engineering, a master's in business administration, and a job in patent law. She was going to graduate from Wayne State with her law degree next semester.

After reading, "A Guide to Detroit's Chapter 9 Default And How Bankruptcy Could Change the City", I was shocked. I can not believe that Detroit is in debt of 18 billion dollars and that there is more than likely a chance of nobody paying the city back. Detroit has roughly about 100,000 thousand creditors. The plan of 10 years worth of improvements will affect residents, businesses, neighborhoods, and visitors. It is really heartbreaking that Detroit had to file for bankruptcy and the consequences that come along with it.

My reaction to the youtube video was a little shocking because Canada is a country with resource wealth and has some of the best social services. I was also surprised to know that millions of Canadians have to use food banks. I disagree with Canada making the social services privatization and allowing private corporations to take over from government in the funding and deliverance of many social services. There are many social services that are too important to be left to the private sector. I think privatization will affect my practice as a social worker because privatization reduces the number of public employees.

After watching, "Poor US: An Animated History-Why Poverty?" I learned many things that were a great insight about poverty. Everything always has a history and the first step to fix anything is to know the history of it. One of the historians stated that, "If we want to make poverty history, then first we need to understand the history of poverty". I thought this was an interesting statement and this is something that we all need to know to improve poverty from existing. Poverty has indeed been around with humans for a very long time. During the Stone Age, poverty with no food or medicine resulted with people dying before they could find out much about it. During the early civilization, everyone was pretty much poor. Poverty was considered a lack of reliable access to basic needs. Health expectancy was 35years, which is half our life expectancy now.

There was an animated play in the video, two people represented the rich and one person represented the poor and they held a conversation about poverty. The rich made a statement about how they wanted to get rid of poverty, which, is something that poverty told them is something that would not work because it would be a disaster to humanity. The rich told poverty it would work because there would be slaves to get the work done. One of the statements that occurred in the conversation that I thought was something to ponder about was, "If everyone was rich no one would want to work hard". Basically many things just will not get done due to there not being any poor people to work for the rich. There will not be anyone to do the hard work. There will not be clothes, shoes, food, gathering harvest, and etcetera if wealth was distributed. There need to be a certain amount of rich and poor people for everything to work out smoothly. Poverty is what makes the rich be rich.
